One year after its initial announcement, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has finally been showcased properly during the most recent Pokémon Presents, giving us a good look at the upcoming title's gameplay and features. It wasn't quite the deep dive many of us were hoping for, but it was certainly enough to whet our appetites for the 'late 2025' launch window.
We're generally quite pleased with what we saw, all told: the battle system looks neat; Mega Evolutions are back; you can jump between building rooftops, for goodness' sake. Lots of cool stuff. We can't help but feel like it's a bit lacking in the visual department, though ("Shocking", we hear you say). Granted, Pokémon games have never been graphical powerhouses – at least since the move into the 3D realm – but going from Pokémon Legends: Arceus to this is a bit of a blow, to be honest.

]]>Following a rating toward the end of 2024, Publisher Reef Entertainment and developer Bitmap Bureau have revealed the debut trailer for Terminator 2D: NO FATE, a new retro-inspired title based on the 1991 movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day (a.k.a. the best one, and we won't hear any different, thank you very much).
Bitmap Bureau is known for its work on titles such as Xeno Crisis and Final Vendetta, and the team certainly seems to have done its homework for this latest project. NO FATE looks remarkably faithful to the James Cameron-directed movie, allowing you play through scenes from the 'present day' and the apocalyptic future.

]]>One of the biggest surprises for the Nintendo Switch 2 was the news (well, leak...) that the console would support mouse functionality.
Optic sensors have been added to both Joy-Con controllers, theoretically allowing you to place them side-down on a surface and using them for mouse control. ]]>Takaya Imamura has designed some of the most iconic characters across Nintendo’s history. Joining in 1989, his first major gig was creating the look of F-Zero’s Captain Falcon. Moving on to The Legend of Zelda series and Star Fox, he is also responsible for the unique art direction of Majora's Mask.
After parting ways with Nintendo in 2021, he started work on his first independent project, a manga that he's now adapted into an old-fashioned adventure that recalls the early days of the point-and-click genre. Omega 6: The Triangle Stars is a game that allows us some insight into a veteran designer returning to their roots.

]]>In a recent interview with VGC, Mario + Rabbids director Davide Soliani recalled the moment when the team received word from Ubisoft regarding the sales performance of 2022's Sparks of Hope.
In short, the game didn't meet Ubisoft's internal expectations, with CEO Yves Guillemot even mentioning that Ubisoft should have waited for the Switch 2. ]]>Gosh, we sure have heard a lot from former PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida in recent weeks, huh? Since leaving Sony, the PS vet has been pretty candid in discussing his career, interests, and just about anything else you might want to know. And now, he wants an invite to Nintendo HQ (thanks for the heads up, Push Square).
Okay that makes it sound a little more demand-y than it actually is. In a recent interview with Japanese publication Gamer.ne.jp (via Google Translate), Yoshida confessed that he has "never been" to Nintendo HQ, saying that he'd "like to visit someday!"

Dubbed 'Dragonite and the Postman', there's sadly no English translation for this one just yet, so it might be a little bit difficult to understand exactly what's going on if you're not well-versed in Japanese. That said, we reckon it's still worth a watch if only for the absolutely stunning animation on display.

]]>As the Steam Deck turns three years old, and many of us laud its praises for allowing accessible PC gaming on-the-go, market research firm IDC has estimated that the handheld console has shifted roughly around 4 million units since its arrival in February 2022.
The Verge spoke to the IDC, which uses supply chains to estimate the amount of gaming systems have been shifted worldwide in order to create spending forecasts (via Push Square). According to IDC, roughly 6 million handheld units — which includes the Lenovo Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally, among others — have been sold, not consoles such as the Ayaneo or GPD, which are manufactured in China.
